Geographically, AHISD is one of the smallest school districts in the state, covering only 9.4 square miles. The district serves students from the communities of Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, Olmos Park, and a portion of North San Antonio. Alamo Heights ISD has five schools that are part of its district, 1 preschool, 2, elementary school, 1 middle school, and 1 hight school.

AHHS is a traditional four-year public high school that is known for its commitment to academic excellence with a curriculum that is primarily college preparatory. AHHS consistently ranks in the Top 1% in the nation for college preparation, according to The Washington Post and Newsweek. AHHS athletics and other extracurricular programs are consistently ranked in the Top 10 in Texas and receives many national awards as well.
