Due to Covid 19, I was unable to teach a lesson in my classroom for Ms. Gentry and Ms. Hesse. I would have loved to be able to teach a lesson for my students at the time, but even though I did not get that opportunity, I still taught a lesson and created lesson plan for the class. I “taught” a lesson on paper mache masks, and the goal was for students to create masks that tells us something about yourself. This can be some feature you like about yourself, your community or culture that you have a connection with, or maybe a hobby that you enjoy. We want students to have the opportunity to discuss something about themselves, so that I (teacher) can learn more but also their peers. I love this lesson because I feel like it starts to create a classroom culture where students feel like it is a brave space to express themselves. They also learned more about the techniques of paper mache which will be helpful for sculpture, pottery, paper making, and other art techniques.
