Essential Understanding

Students will create a sculpture that is incorporating two different types of media, one which will be clay. They also will be focusing on surface texture and creating movement with the sculpture. Students need to be focusing on the process of how to incorporate a different media into, like making holes that they will be use to weave yarn into their piece. Students will be mixing media and working on surface texture and design.

Inquiry Questions

What is media? What are some ways that we use media in art? Think about material you used in art class when you were little

Now that we know about media, what is mixed media going to like? And how can we incorporate into clay? What are something that you need to think about when it is in the green ware stage?

Student Work

Students Final Work

Student Reflective Activity

Students will complete a reflection sheet for their project and submit it online. This will give them a chance to create a artist statement, and reflect on their project.

Teacher Reflection

Overall, I think this lesson went well. The students seemed excited about this lesson and to have a project that is so open ended. I wish I would have asked more engaging questions in the beginning to have more a reflection conversation. And I think the students did not have a chance to produce the work they wanted due the time crunch that they had.
