Standard 4

Quality Standard 4

Teachers demonstrate professionalism through ethical conduct, reflection, and leadership.

Overall Reflection

This quality standard 4 I believe that I am accomplished at this standard. Being professional is extremely important, and I pride myself in the quality standard. I am always on time for school, I dress professional, and my positive attitude is always appropriate for the classroom setting. As a teacher I think I have grown a lot during my time as a student teacher, being professional and becoming a role to my students is extremely important. I want my students to see me as role model and someone they can look up to  and I think this all starts with this standard of being professional. As a growing professional, I strive to always be accomplished in this standard. I will keep these professional depositions that my mentor teachers completed for me, as constant reminder of how I have grown and my goals to stay accomplished in this standard as a professional.

Element A: Teachers demonstrate high standards for professional conduct.

This is the professional depositions that my mentor teacher from Cambridge elementary school during my 1st placement filled out. I received a perfect score, and I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to work at that school and co teach with my mentor teacher.

Element B: Teachers link professional growth to their professional goals.

During my time at Alamo Heights High School, I was able to participate in a Professional Development day. On that day, we talked about how to be more inclusive, diversity, and using inclusive language. We read this article "Willing To Be Disturbed" and it talks about how to have these important conversations in our classroom and have these discussion about how we all different and the importance of that.

Element C: Teachers respond to a complex, dynamic environment

With being in a learning environment that is changing, teachers are having to adapt and over come to new things constantly. This video is an example of how I am able to teach ceramics to at home learners and in person learning. I am always willing to adapt and grow to new environments and learning experiences.

Element D: Teachers demonstrate leadership in the school, the community, and the teaching profession.

I believe that it is important to create a platform for yourself as an educator. While I was student teaching, I would tweet on my educator twitter about the lesson and what my students were created. These tweets were shared by the Alamo Heights School district, and parents and other educators were able to see my leadership and skills in the classroom in a social media platform.
